Wireless digital frames support over 150,000 photos!
Recently, we announced support for over 150,000 photos. Ok, maybe you don't have 150,000 photos...today. But, I do have 40,000+ at the time of this writing. Working with large photo archives is important since these collections are growing at an ever expanding rate. And, we spend a lot of time making sure our products work with these archives since its about using ALL your photos.
The reasons? For one, I get my whole collection on the wall as I go about living my life, with very little fuss. Secondly, it is very fast to load the list so I can go in and add photos to my PC, seeing the results almost immediately, no matter how big that list is. Third, since we have no client application running on the PC, it means a simpler approach -- I don't have to keep two programs up to date, the PC and the PhotoVu, and since there is no client running on the PC, displaying photos on the PhotoVu does not bog down the CPU on the computer.
As one example, the Apple TV box I have in my home can stream photos from my PC to my TV. Ok, great. However, for my 40k photo collection, it took some 15 minutes to load the photo list before the photos began playing. Not to mention, when I first added the photos it bogged down my computer for about 15 minutes. Again, we have no client on the PC, so it doesn't bog down the computer that is serving the photos. That part really sucked as it made my PC totally unusable. The same list on my PhotoVu takes about a minute to load and it will automagically re-load the list when it reaches the end of it, so it can include new photos that have been added to my photo collection since the last list load. This feature allows the PhotoVu to be a set and forget device. As I'm taking pictures, say over the weekend, I come back and dump them in my photo directory and they just become part of my life, on the wall, with no further interaction.
Living a lifetime of memories...each and every day!
