Use the following instructions if you want to configure your PhotoVu to use wireless Ad-Hoc mode.
Step 1 - Configure the Wireless Network to Use a Static IP Address
In order for Ad-Hoc networking to work correctly, you need to make sure that the Wireless Network is "Obtaining an IP Address using" the Static method.
If you forget this step, you must plug the PhotoVu into a device that has access to a DHCP server and use the wired (Ethernet) connection to reconfigure the wireless networking. When switched into this state, the only way to communicate with the PhotoVu is using the wired network connection. Or, you can reset the PhotoVu back to "Factory Defaults" using the Power Button on the PhotoVu.
Step 2 - Modify the Wireless Properties
Once you have confirmed that you are using a Static IP address on the Wireless Network, click on the Modify Wireless Properties button. Set the "Mode" to "Ad-Hoc" and verify the "Ad-Hoc Mode ESSID". Make sure you adjust the "WEP" settings if needed.
If you are currently using the Wireless Network as the active connection, the PhotoVu will restart automatically after applying the settings. If not, unplug the Ethernet cable and restart the PhotoVu.
Changing from Ad-Hoc to Managed Mode and back again is also available on the Power Button menu. Again, make sure you are using a Static IP address on your wireless connection before trying the Power Button feature. This feature will toggle you from Infrastructure (Managed) to Ad-Hoc Mode and back again.
Step 3 - Connect to the PhotoVu Using Your Computer
The computer you use to communicate with the PhotoVu on an Ad-Hoc network needs to have a matching IP address. Meaning, the first three sets of digits (separated by periods) have to be the same numbers. If you are unsure on what this means, please search on the Internet for "Ad-Hoc Networking". The setup can vary depending upon which operating system you use.
